苏格兰行政区划

今日的苏格兰行政区划，全境含周遭离岛共被分为32个统一管理区（Unitary Authority Region），是根据1994年（苏格兰）地方政府法案，于1996年4月1日起开始使用。但是，有不少苏格兰人还是习惯原本分为33个区（Region）的旧分法，苏格兰的“区”在性质上因为与英格兰及威尔斯的“郡”（County）性质接近，因此常常被误称为郡，“区”的底下还有第二级的次区划“次区”（District），这套分法是自1975年5月16日起启用。1996年的行政区重划除了在分区数量上有小小的不同外，最关键的一点在于将原本的“区”“次区”两级制简化为一级制。
在此之前，苏格兰的次区划的确称为郡（Administrative County，行政郡，自1889年时启用），而在1889年之前，原本都是使用起源于中古时代的市（City），自治市（Burgh，相当于英格兰的Borough），与教区（Parish）这类旧行政区划。[/size]
