The Lord Provost's Youth Parade in Dundee City CentreDundee City Centre starting from Dundee High School down Reform Street then around the Nethergate and the Overgate and ending in City Square.

Youth Parade and Twinning Celebration

Ahuge Dundee celebration of youth and international twinning is set to getunderway this weekend (Friday August 25 to Sunday August 27).
Theannual Youth Festival and a colourful parade is set to take over the citycentre on Saturday (August 26), while the occasion will also be used to mark 60years of twinning links between Dundee and Orleans in France.

Dignitariesfrom Dundee's twin cities of Orleans, Alexandria (USA), Wurzburg(Germany) and Nablus (Palestine) are coming to theCity of Discovery to join in the events.

Aspecial ceremony to commemorate six decades of links between Dundee and Orleanswill take place in the city chambers on Saturday (11.30am)  when young people from Dundee and France willpledge to take the Auld Alliance forward into the future.

Ayouth parade with nearly 800 participants will then take place through the citycentre (from 2pm) with entertainment and displays ongoing in the city squarefor the rest of the afternoon.


LordProvost John Letford said: "The annual youthparade is a really exciting event in the life of this city and we are delightedto have had such a positive response to the parade from the young people ofDundee again.

"Theweekend celebration of both the Youth Festival and the twinning links is asuperb way to highlight the talent and enthusiasm of our young people and thesupport they receive from the rest of the city.

"Iam very pleased that such an excellent programme has been put together by thecity council and the twinning associations to show how much we value both youthand international links in Dundee."
